Rooster Tap is a 2018 AQHA registered bay gelding that stands 14.3 hands tall. He is stout made and built like a cow horse should be. He has a great cow horse pedigree, and it’s no accident that he is such a great all-around horse, with legends such as Gallo Del Cielo, Peppy San Badger, and Grays Starlight right on his papers.
He is extra fancy broke to ride with a great one-hand neck rein and is easy to operate. He has a reining background, which makes him very fun to ride. He will lope beautiful circles, pick up his leads when asked, and has a big sliding stop. He has a correct turnaround and can spin both directions, fast or slow.
He has been extensively used on the ranch doing all the different ranch chores, such as dragging calves to the branding fire, sorting cows in the alleyways, and gathering and trailing cows out of the mountain pastures of western Montana.
He is an excellent trail horse that anyone, young or old, could get along with. He is super kind-hearted and loves people and all the attention you will give him. He will cross creeks and water obstacles with ease and is not spooky around wild game along the trails.
He is also an accomplished, money-earning team roping horse that has been headed and heeled off in the arena and hauled to jackpots and rodeos as well.
He is the kind you can catch wherever you find him, jump on bareback, and ride back to the barn with a halter or string around his neck. Lay him off all winter—no problem. He will stay broke and saddle up ready to go to work every time.
He is also trained to lead up to any mounting block, stump, or fence. Simply smooch to him and he will side pass over and stand quietly while you get on.
He has no bad habits and has never offered to be humpy or saddle up tight. This is a very kind-hearted gelding that the whole family can enjoy, and he is in the prime of his life, ready for anyone to take home and enjoy.
Easy to bathe, trailer, and shoe. He sells 100% sound with a pre-purchase exam and X-rays, and we will stand behind him.
Rooster Tap is consigned to Montana’s Premier Horse Sale and will sell July 11th in Big Sky, Montana.
We are very proud to offer this extra special gelding and know that whoever ends up with him will love him as much as we have.
