2021 Grey Gelding

Docsatdawn, aka “Sunny D,” is a 5-year-old AQHA registered gray gelding that stands 15.1 hands and will weigh around 1,200 pounds. He is put together the way one should be, with a big hip and hind leg. He has a great cow horse pedigree and is full of shape and talent.

He has a quiet, loving disposition and wants to be around people. He is very easy to catch and will always come and find you when you are walking through the pens.

He is very well broke to ride and has had experience out on the trails and doing all the different ranch chores as well. He has roped and drug lots of calves to the branding fire and stays quiet and low headed all the time. He has been used to push and sort cattle and has a lot of natural cow sense and rate.

He has a stylish way of carrying himself and will lope pretty circles in the arena, easily picking up his proper leads. He is smooth at the walk, jog, and lope. He knows how to turn around and has a big stop. He is the kind that you can lay off until you need him and he will saddle up the same every time.

He is trained to be led up to any mounting block or step. Simply step up on it and smooch to him, and he will swing over and stand there quietly for you to get on.

He has great ground manners and has proved himself gentle enough for our kids and grandkids to be around him and handle him both on the ground and, with supervision, in the saddle.

He is still just a 5-year-old and probably has more life lessons to learn, but this is a sweet, kind-hearted, talented gelding that could be taken in lots of different directions. He could be made into a team roping horse with very little effort, could be an outstanding all-around ranch horse, or a very enjoyable trail horse.

He is not spooky and confidently goes where he is pointed. He crosses water and obstacles easily and will pick his way through rough terrain. He is used to cow dogs at his heels and all the commotion of ranch life, such as four-wheelers, skid steers, and wild kids flying around on their bicycles.

Sunny D knows how to put in a hard day’s work, but would just as soon ease down the trail at a leisurely pace if given the choice.

He is good to open and close gates off of, good to shoe, load, and trailer, and loves to get sprayed off after working hard.

This is a super cool gelding that is very easy on the eyes and will make somebody a great partner. Sells 100% sound.

If you think Sunny D might be a good fit for you, give us a call and we would love to tell you all about him.
